SKiing

In the Sea to Sky corridor we are lucky enough to have world class skiing in our back yard. Skiing is a popular winter activity that can be enjoyed by many people of different ages and skill levels.

Beyond the shear enjoyment of skiing it is an extremely physically active outdoor activity that can help keep us strong and healthy in a time of year when it becomes harder to spend as much time outside.

Motocross

Wether you are trail riding, racing motocross, or trying your hand at freestyle or freeriding, every rider knows that feeling of twisting the throttle.

Motocross is one of the most physically demanding sports out there with some of the most severe consequences. Things happen very quickly on a bike and you need to be physically able to control the weight of the bike and power beneath you.

Climbing

Squamish is well known for its professional level of climbing. From bouldering to big wall, Squamish offers it all. Climbing is a precise sport that will challenge your body from fingertips to toes.

Climbing is extremely interesting through a chiropractic lense because it accomplishes much of what we strive to achieve. To climb well you need good range of motion and strength throughout the entire range. The challenge with climbing is that the more difficult the projects become the more tension is created throughout the body and sometime in quite spectacular body positions. You must ensure that your body is ready for the positions and the tensions you are exposing it to.

Almost all sports have an aspect of balance in them, but slacklining is taking that to the next level. Squamish is host to some incredibly talented slackliners and highliners that will make your palms sweat as a spectator.

Muscle proprioception is a term that roughly means knowing where your body is in space due to the tension and length of muscles. Slacklining may just be the ultimate proprioceptive training. Not only do you need to feel exactly where your body weight is placed but you need the core strength to maintain and continually make minor adjustments as you go.

Hiking

If you call the Sea to Sky corridor your home, you have likely done many of the day or multi day hikes in the surrounding area. For some people its about the view from the top, for others it’s about the physical challenge, but we all love the adventure!

Hiking is about choosing the adventure that is right for you. Be aware of your capabilities and don’t put yourself in a dangerous situation. Physical capabilities is only half the battle remember to prepare well and make sure you have the right gear especially when looking at multi day treks.
